KENNEWICK KIWANIS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

2007-2008

The Kennewick Kiwanis Foundation will support a minimum of two scholarships for the 2007-2008 school year. The purpose of all available scholarships is to provide assistance for high school seniors enrolling in institutions of higher education in the fall term of 2008. At least one four-year $1000 renewable scholarship and one one-year $1000 will be announced near the end of May this year. The Foundation scholarship awards are cash awards conditioned upon confirmed enrollment in the institution of choice. When available, one-year scholarships are a one-time award. Four-year scholarships are annually renewed for three additional consecutive years based on continued successful enrollment and annual requests and reports to the Kennewick Kiwanis Foundation.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS The Student:

1. Must be a graduating senior from Kamiakin, Kennewick, River View or

Southridge High School.

2. Must be enrolled in an institution of higher education by the fall term of 2008.

3. Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, based on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.

4. Will have taken the Scholastic Aptitude Test(SAT) and/or the American College

Testing exam(ACT) and have results in hand by the date of the application.

5. Show evidence of leadership and participation in community service activities

6. Show financial need.

Applicants will be evaluated by the committee members as follows:

1. Scholarship Record 10%

2. One Page Essay 10%

3. Recommendations 10%

4. Leadership and Service 25%

5. Need 45%

2. Provide a copy of your high school transcript, signed by the counselor or principal, showing

all grades through the end of your junior year.

3. Provide a cover letter briefly introducing yourself and presenting the reasons why the

selection committee should select you for the scholarship award.
